ATHLETIC SUCCESSES:
Dan took up rowing at the U.S. Naval Academy. He walked on to the team as a freshman and made varsity by his junior season. He joined the U.S. Men's National Rowing Team in 1977 after graduating from the Naval Academy. He competed in the 1977 World Championships, before being assigned to Okinawa, Japan as a combat engineer. In 1979 he was transferred back to the Naval Academy to train for the Olympic Games and he qualified for the 1980 U.S. Olympic Rowing team, which did not compete because of the U.S. boycott of the Games in Moscow. He did, however, compete in the 1980 British Royal Henley, where his boat won the Stewards Challenge Cup.

CAREER PATH:
Dan enlisted in the United States Navy in 1972. After serving one year, he attended the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated in 1977, becoming a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He finished his tour with the Marines as a Captain and coach of the Naval Academy's Women's Rowing Team that won the silver medal at the divisional championship in 1982. He received his Master's degree in Systems Management and joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He recently completed 19 years of service in the FBI, and over that time he has been stationed in Baltimore, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Newark, Los Angeles, and New York City.
